Baby Update #4 – 14w1d

Good morning! I’m 14w1d today and we had another great appointment! The fetuses are all measuring at the right size with strong heartbeats and they’re definitely getting bigger in there! They look so much more like babies in this week’s photos. Check out Triplet B’s photo – you can totally see a brain stem and brain. AMAZING. We were even able to see the different brain hemispheres from some views. (With the pictures, I also included a PDF of all the pictures we got this week.)

I’m feeling okay. Still nausea in the morning but I *think* it’s a little better during the day. The usual headaches and heartburn that come with pregnancy but Jason’s still taking amazing care of me. I attached a photo of my growing baby bump. 🙂
I should also mention that the 12 weeks scans came back great from the lab so we don’t have any big concerns about chromosomal abnormalities. That’s a huge relief at my “advanced” age. 🙂
Love you all!

Baby Update #3 – 12wks

Hello! Today was the all important 12 week ultrasound and everything was great! The fetuses are all measuring about 2.5 inches and their hearts are beating strong. They also like to wiggle around a lot which created some challenges for the very patient ultrasound tech. (With three fetuses to measure, it took about 90 minutes.)

Since everything is on track, we’ve started sharing the news broadly and it’s no longer secret news. That’s a particular relief now that I’m starting to show.
I attached three new photos. They’re all close-ups. Triplet A was oriented upside down so I flipped that photo for you. You can see a foot! Triplet B gave us the most trouble today and wouldn’t stop wiggling! With Triplet C, you can clearly see a hand and all 5 fingers!
I’m doing ok. Still nauseous which is no fun but par for the course with triplets. Jason is taking amazing care of me.
Love to you all,
Joanna

Baby Update #2 – 10w1d

Good morning! I’m 10w1d today and we went for another ultrasound this morning. The u/s tech told us that everything looks exactly as she’d want it to at this point in the pregnancy. The heartbeats are great and they are wiggling around in there!

I’ve attached a few new photos – close ups of each and one group shot. 🙂

I’m feeling okay. Tired and nauseous but plugging along and eating as much protein as I can to help A, B & C grow big & strong.

 Love you all!

Baby Update #1 – 8w2d

Hi family! To keep everyone updated, we’ll send out updates every few weeks and share any new photos of the (THREE) babies growing inside me.

As you know, it’s still early but things look good. Yesterday I saw the specialists who’ll manage my pregnancy. They specialize in high-risk pregnancies and multiples and know how to help us get to term.

My technical due date is 3/10/14 but the goal is to get to at least 32 weeks. If by lucky chance I go longer, they’ll deliver me at 35 weeks. This means we should expect the babies sometime in January; the later, the better. We can also expect some or all of the babies to spend time in the nicu. That’s totally normal and we’re delivering at a great hospital.

Our next ultrasound is at 10w1d on Tuesday, 8/12 when we hope to, again, see 3 healthy, thriving fetuses.

I’m doing ok. Still a bit of nausea that’s mostly managed with (fetus safe) medication. I’m exhausted but that’s also to be expected. And I’m on my way toward gaining 40-50 pounds!

Just a reminder to continue to keep the news under wraps. Here’s a photo from yesterday!photo (21)
