Cutest moment of this past week: Sammy is nervous on the slide and he likes to hold our hand when he goes down. He says, “hand, hand.”
Yesterday, Amaya heard him saying this and went over to hold his hand while he went down on the slide. It was over the top adorable, and it opened a flood gate. They all took turns climbing the slide and holding each other’s hands.
This week we had lots of fun at our weekly play group.
Wednesday was more fun at music class. The kids were in my car because I had the van. You can see Sammy and Amaya holding hands in the car.
This week, the big hits were the castle and what appears to be a very big berry.
Everyone is continuing to have lots of fun with our kinetic sand! Sammy is hit or miss on whether or not he’ll touch it but this will be a great winter activity when everyone is stuck inside.
Sadly, we’re gearing up for the cold weather. I found some great car seat safe winter coats but they won’t do the job on their own on the coldest MI days so we tried on our car seat ponchos. They’ll be perfect on days when their coats just won’t cut it.
I had plans to go the mall with the kids after snack and Amaya wanted to be sure to get in some quality daddy time first.
Our first stop was shoe shopping for Steven. His shoes may be small which is a particular issue with his orthotics so I wanted to get him measured. My kids destroyed the shoe department. I knew it would happen if I took them out of the wagon but they also weren’t just going to sit quietly. Sammy ran around saying, “Shoe! Boot!” They took every shoe down and put shoes in new places. When we were through, it was a good lesson on cleaning up our messes.
Afterward, we went to the kids play area. I was hoping it would be a good place to take the kids during the winter when I need to get out of the house but it is not okay for one adult with three toddlers. At least not on a busy weekend. There are line of sight issues. Issues with bigger kids not seeing the little kids. And there’s a slide. It’s a great slide but I still need to be there with whoever’s using it which means I can’t be there for anyone else. I’m hoping it’s better during the week and may be an option for Megan but, for now, it’s a two adult excursion on weekends.
As we were packing up to leave, Megan called to say she and Mike had just arrived at the mall. I unloaded the kids for more playtime since we now had three adults available for a short while.
Steven saw Megan and literally melted into her.
Sammy did not want to leave when it was finally time to go. Hello toddler tantrum!
And poor Bobo didn’t want to say goodbye to Megan.
Today, in an effort to find somewhere that would work, I tried out the library. We’d never been but it’s fairly new and I was hopeful they’d have a good kids area. It’s okay! In the back of the children’s/youth area there is space with a few toys and I think it will work well enough on days when we just need to get out. The library is only 5 minutes away so even a 45 minute visit is worth it.
I don’t take photos that include other kids but it was a pretty busy area, despite how it looks in photos. Amaya and a young boy had a battle of wills over a toy giraffe. Amaya wasn’t allowed to take it from him but, when she had it fairly, I was very impressed with how she defended her turf. When she did steal it, she found something else she tried to get him to take instead. It was very clever. The only tears were when a boy stole back a car that Steven had taken from him. Hysterics from Steven. Eventually he was distracted by something new.
Here are some photos of sleeping toddlers. Steven, Amaya, Sammy and then a bonus photo of Steven, sleeping with his little tush up in the air and his feet crossed.
A few more adventures this week!
Nana and Papa bought us a kitchen and it arrived! We’re waiting until Nana’s visit next weekend to put it together.
It’s been a while since I’ve shared bath photos. Little cuties. They have so much fun playing in the water.
Bedtime story time with Daddy.
Steven, this week!
Steven is saying more and more. He doesn’t enunciate well but it’s clear to us what he’s saying. He’s got a hot temper. He bit Amaya this week when she tried to steal a toy and when he’s pissed, he’s pissed. He can go from happy to hysterical in a hot second. Steven is still a little mush ball.
The ladle broke. “Uh, oh!”
Sammy, this week!
Sammy is a parrot. He has so many words, I can’t believe it. And he remembers them and uses them in context. Lotion. Chicken. Fork. Wash. Paint. Tatoe. (Potatoe.) It goes on and on. If you ask him about his poop he says, “Woah.” “Read. “Read.” Sammy also loves books and always wants you to read to him.
Smelling raw onion.
Sad Sammy wants to sit on Megan’s lap but it’s occupied!
All better!
Still sleepy after a nap.
Fussy Sammy. I love this picture of him.
Amaya, this week!
Amaya is the only one who regularly says her name. When she wants something she says, “Amaya! Amaya!” And she wants everything. If she doesn’t want it, the minute one of her brothers has it that changes and it must be hers. I’m glad she’s going after what she wants, we’ll just work on her approach.
Where’s Amaya?
Amaya has a boyfriend named Gage. He’s a triplet also born in January 2014 and he lives in FL. He was sick and Amaya wanted to send good wishes.
The hat Amaya is holding was made by my great grandmother.
Battle scars. The results of Steven’s bite. That was through her shirt!
Amaya is obsessed with dressing herself and, as reported by Megan, she got these pajamas on by herself! As Sammy would say, “woah!”
When I’m home, Amaya most often wants me to hold her. Another triplet mom gave me the great tip of wearing her on my back if there’s stuff I need to get done. It works!!
And that’s a wrap! Enjoy the week!

they are just too cute!
